Yale School of Art Website Redesign

This project is a conceptual redesign of the Yale School of Art website, created in Figma with the goal of improving clarity, visual hierarchy, and user navigation while preserving the institution’s artistic identity. The original site is known for its experimental and unconventional design. My approach was to reinterpret it through a more structured, user-centered lens without losing its creative essence.

The redesign focuses on improving information architecture and content organization. Key sections such as Programs, Events, Student Gallery, and Latest News are clearly structured to enhance discoverability and ease of exploration.

A strong hero section establishes brand presence immediately, supported by clear call-to-action buttons that guide prospective students and visitors toward meaningful engagement.

Typography and spacing were carefully refined to create better readability and hierarchy. A clean grid system ensures alignment and balance across sections, while high-quality imagery highlights student work and campus culture. The layout uses generous white space to allow content to breathe, creating a more premium and professional academic presence.

The Programs section introduces visual cards for each discipline, making it easier for users to scan and compare offerings. The Events and Gallery sections are designed to feel dynamic and image-driven, emphasizing the school’s creative output. The footer consolidates contact details and navigation links to support usability.

This redesign demonstrates my ability to analyze an existing digital product, identify usability gaps, and translate them into a cohesive, modern interface. It reflects my understanding of user experience principles, visual hierarchy, layout systems, and academic website design.
